CALL FOR ENTRIES ANIMALCOI 2025

From November 13 to 16, 2025 in Alcoi (Spain), the fourth edition of the Animalcoi festival will take place. Again short film competition, screenings, conferences, workshops, pitch and much more. Activities for all editions and free entry.

Short film competition open until June 30

Take the prizes for animation courses, with three competitive sections.

1. SECTIONS AND AWARDS

ANIMALCOI- SOLITIUM AWARD FOR THE BEST INTERNATIONAL SHORT.

Short films of any nationality made by a creator or creative team aged 18 or over may be submitted.

The maximum duration of the piece shall not exceed 20 minutes. Minimum duration: 45 seconds.

The theme of the film is free.

They must have been produced between 1 January 2023 and 1 June 2025. It must be proven with a digital document justifying its production. Otherwise, they will not be accepted.

The amount established for the prize is €1.500* for the producer and trophy. In the event that the short is produced by the directors themselves, the prize will go to the author(s) of the short film.

MUTUA LEVANTE FOUNDATION AWARD FOR THE BEST NATIONAL SHORT FILM.

Short films produced in Spain or with a majority Spanish co-production may be submitted.

The maximum duration of the piece will not exceed 20 minutes. Minimum duration: 45 seconds.

National short films may enter the call for the best national short film award as well as the best international short film award. It will be the selection committee that decides in which section you will compete if you are selected.

The amount established for the prize is 1.500 €* for the creator/creator or creative team and a trophy.

SCHOOLS TO THE BEST SCHOOL ANIMATION SHORT.

This award is open to individual or collective short films produced by students of art colleges, vocational schools and university degrees at international level.

The works may be submitted by teachers or the educational centre of origin, as well as by the creator or group.

The maximum length of the piece shall not exceed 10 minutes, with no minimum length.

The theme of the short film is free.

The amount established for the prize is 1,000 €* for the creator/creator or creative team and a trophy.

*In case of that payment of the prize generates additional costs for international banking transactions, these will be assumed by the winner or deducted from the total amount of the prize.

2. FORM, PLACE AND DEADLINE FOR THE DELIVERY OF THE WORKS.

Regardless of their original format, the works must be sent in a minimum size of 1080p. The following formats will be accepted: .mov, .grandpa, .mp4, mv4.

If the projection quality is not adequate, and the film is selected, a copy in projection conditions will be requested.

Works may be submitted in any language. If it is not in either of the two official languages of the Valencian Community (Spanish or Valencian), a subtitle file in English, Spanish or Valencian must be included.

It is also important to fill in the dates correctly on the platforms, such as: synopsis, date of creation and premiere, short cv of the author/author, authors/authors, attach the poster and four promotional images.

The registration date will be open from March 10 to June 30, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. The works will be sent to the festival organization through the Filmfreeway platform.

Once the festival selection has been made and communicated, the work cannot be withdrawn.

3. DATA PROTECTION AND COPYRIGHT.

The personal data attached to the works will be used exclusively so that the ANIMALCOI organization can contact the representatives of the works. These data will not be shared with third parties.

The festival undertakes to use the submitted films only for selection and subsequent screening of the selected material during the festival dates.

The rights to disseminate the winning works will also belong to the sponsors along with the authors for a period of time and, provided that the creators agree and sign a document to this effect.

4. SELECTION PROCESS AND DISSEMINATION OF THE WORKS RECEIVED.

All the works presented will be viewed by a selection committee that will choose the works that will compete in each of the competition sections. The decision of the selection committee is final.

For each section there will be a specific jury made up of three people. The decision on the official awards will rest with each of these Juries.

The selected works, according to the criteria deemed appropriate by the selection committee, will be made public on the festival’s website during october. Before this date, the Festival will contact the selected works in writing.

Both an extract of the works and the images provided may be used to illustrate the various dissemination and communication materials of the festival (programme, magazine, catalogue, press, website and other media). The organisation undertakes to use the various dissemination materials only for the promotion of the film, respecting the conditions indicated on the entry form.

All selected films will be screened exclusively in the festival venues during the dates on which the festival is held. If other screenings are planned, the organisation will request authorisation from the film rights holder.

Participation in the festival implies acceptance of these rules.
